Dog Days and Summer Lethargy

It's that time of August when the summer heat catches up with everybody and makes us all lethargic. Perhaps this is why, from a marketing standpoint, you don't announce new products in August...

Announcing the Distaster news service, releasing the sights, sounds and secrets of Distaster artists, including Radio:Tahiti and the individual projects of Jon Lester.

New recording is happening now. Short on machines, I am using a demo copy of PC Drummer for some of the backbeats, and since the demo has no "save" function I simply run a cable out to a tape deck and figure I can work from there. For all the computers I have, none are top level PC's of our time, so I really don't have true multitrack capability, but do have a Win95 machine running Goldwave and a very basic multitrack program by the same author, Multiquence. I'm not sure how well it will work but I think I can work around issues of synching my .wav files.

For other instruments I have recently acquired a MIDI keyboard made by Nintendo, of all companies, apparently as a piano teaching tool developed in tandem with The Software Works. Quite a period piece and a nice score. I also have a Yamaha MIDI box that basically is MIDI-in and stereo out, with a large number of instruments available. We'll see how it works out.

This is all for the one all-new project coming out late this year under my own name and the working album title "33." It's been a slow trip from A to B getting this off the ground but now things are moving. More to come...
